At West City Boxing, the dedication of 23 young amateur boxers (including two inspiring young women) is truly remarkable. Sixteen have already competed, with nine boasting over five registered bouts. The gym is a vibrant hub, regularly hosting sparring sessions with other Auckland clubs, fostering a strong sense of community and competition.
A past recipient of The Trusts Your West Support Fund – we’re incredibly proud of the mahi West City Boxing do for the community. They had 3 Auckland Region Youth Boxing Representatives recently shine at the National competition, bringing home one gold and two silver medals! Adding to their accolades, 3 of the talented youth currently hold prestigious Golden Gloves titles.
These dedicated athletes have set their sights on even greater challenges: the Golden Gloves in Tauranga (July) and the National Championships in Wellington. There is also a promising young boxer aiming for the invaluable international experience of the Australian Golden Gloves in July. These tournaments are crucial for their skill development, building resilience, gaining competitive experience, and paving the way for future success.
However, the costs associated with these opportunities – including entry fees, training bouts and essential training camps – stretch beyond their regular budget. This is where your support becomes vital.

This special event offers a unique opportunity for novice athletes to step into the ring in a safe and controlled environment, experiencing the thrill of boxing with restricted punches. There’ll also be a delicious sausage sizzle and a tempting bake sale – all proceeds going directly towards supporting the journey of these young boxers.
