The grounds of Massey Playcentre had felt a little empty recently. The staff and kids were incredibly disappointed when they discovered that the playcentre’s swing set, a source of endless fun and development for their tamariki, had been stolen from their locked shed.

When we at The Trusts heard about this disheartening incident and the impact it had on the children, we knew we wanted to help. As an organisation deeply rooted in our community, we understand the vital role that playcentres play in the lives of young tamariki. These spaces are more than just playgrounds; they are essential spaces for the social, physical and developmental milestones for our tamariki. The thought of this simple joy being taken away resonated with us.

That’s why we didn’t hesitate to offer our support. We were pleased to step in and cover the entire cost of replacing the stolen swings. For us, seeing the happy faces of the children in our community is paramount. Knowing that the tamariki at Massey Playcentre are once again free to make the most of their facility is incredibly rewarding. We firmly believe in supporting the places and people that nurture our tamariki, and being able to contribute to bringing that joy back to Massey Playcentre is something we are truly proud to do.

A representative from Massey Playcentre shared, “We extend our sincere appreciation to The Trusts for their timely and invaluable support during a challenging period for our community. Their help has had an immediate and positive impact, as evidenced by the sheer delight of the children utilising the new swings.”

It warms our hearts to know that we could play a part in bringing some joy back to the playcentre.
