Comedy for a Cause is happening at Swanson RSA on Friday 2 October, and all profits from the night are going to Give a Kid a Blanket.

The event is being presented by Rotary Henderson and Rotalite West, two groups who have long put their energy into projects that make life a bit better for people around Henderson and the wider West. This time they have lined up four fantastic comedians and pointed the proceeds straight at a local cause.

Give a Kid a Blanket works with people who are experiencing hardship and crisis right across our community, providing the practical basics that make a genuine difference when things get tough. Bedding, warmth, dignity, the things that are easy to take for granted until you do not have them. Every ticket sold on the night helps that mahi keep going.

The line-up features incredible local comedians Nick Rado, Lana Walters, Tarun Mohanbhai and Rhys Mathewson. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7pm. RSA meals are available from 5.30pm, so you can eat, settle in and get comfortable before the first act.

Tickets are $45 each and are available now through hendersonrotary.co.nz/comedy.

Comedy for a Cause is not a Trusts event, and we are not funding it. We were simply asked by our friends at Give a Kid a Blanket and Rotary if we would help spread the word, and that felt like an easy yes. Supporting The West is not always about money. Sometimes it is just about making sure good local kaupapa get seen by the people who would love to be part of them.

So if you’re free on Friday 2 October, gather your whānau, your mates or your workmates and head out to Swanson
