Hosted by Twisted Sisters Club, The Henderson Shuffle is a 12-hour, non-competitive community endurance event. From 7am to 7pm, people of all ages and abilities are invited to walk, jog, run, or shuffle as many laps as they like around a scenic loop of the park. There’s no finish line pressure, no minimum distance, no need to be fast or fit. One lap or one hundred, it all counts.
The kaupapa is simple: get people moving, keep it inclusive, and make it fun. Whether you’re a solo legend clocking up the kilometres, a full-noise team taking it in shifts, a power walker, a first-timer, or a whānau bringing the tamariki along for an hour, there’s a place for you at the start line.
Entry is $20 for adults, $15 for first responders, and $10 for kids up to 17. There are also limited spots for four-legged friends (on a lead, please). Every entry receives a medal and a voucher to Shoe Science, plus the chance to win spot prizes throughout the day.
One of the highlights is the First Responder Challenge, where local Fire, Police and St Johns crews go head-to-head to see who can rack up the most laps.
Between laps, you can pitch a small tent, grab kai and a drink on site, or kick back in the Chill-Out Zone with bean bags and games. Come for an hour. Stay all day. Bring your mates. Bring your dog. Bring a picnic.
Lace up, whānau. Let’s shuffle.
Sunday 27 September 2026, 7am to 7pm, Henderson Park (off Wilsher Crescent).
