Interacting is all about inclusive, creative expression for people with disabilities in The West. Their weekly classes give participants a chance to try out drama, movement and hip hop in a supportive environment, building confidence, friendships and skills along the way. It’s practical, joyful mahi that makes a real difference to the people who take part and the whānau around them.
Through our Supporters Club, a $500 donation from Mr Illingsworth went to Interacting to help cover venue hire during May and June. The classes ran at St Michael’s Anglican Church and Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson, two much-loved local spaces that provided the perfect home for the sessions.
Venue hire might not sound like the most exciting thing to fund, but for community groups it’s often one of the biggest ongoing costs. Having those venues covered meant Interacting could focus on what they do best: running great classes and welcoming participants each week without worrying about the bill for the room.
Our Supporters Club is a monthly, venue-led way for our teams to back the local causes they care about, with grants of up to $500 going where they’ll make an immediate, practical difference. It’s small in scale but it adds up, and when it lands with an organisation like Interacting, it really does help keep the doors open.
