More than 200 rangatahi took to the streets of The West as part of Zeal West‘s Whau to Hendo Photo Scavenger Hunt.
Starting at New Lynn Memorial Square and making their way to Henderson, teams of young westies completed challenges, captured creative photos, explored local spaces, and enjoyed a range of fun activations along the route. The event, held during the Matariki season, encouraged rangatahi to connect with each other, reflect on what matters to them, and celebrate the communities they call home.
We were privileged to attend and see the excitement firsthand. It was fantastic to watch the young people embrace the challenge, work together as teams, and enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition. We also had the opportunity to chat with several participants, hearing directly about what they were enjoying and why events like this are so important for young people in our community.
Zeal is a youth development organisation that creates safe, creative spaces where young people can explore who they are and what they are capable of. Guided by a belief that every young person deserves to feel seen, supported, and connected, their work continues to make a positive impact across Aotearoa.
