Mr Illingsworth has opened!
Two years in the planning, Mr Illingsworth is part of a revamped range of food, beverage and retail stores focused to meet changing demand in the Te Atatu Peninsula area. The kitchen is run by Arthur Vidal – formerly head chef of Ponsonby’s Little Easy – who has a big future ahead in culinary arts.
Locals have been soaking up the sun in the outdoor seating enjoying a traditional ‘Tat North’ cocktail (42 Below feijoa vodka, passionfruit, honey, apple and ginger ale), as well as a wide range of beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks.
Good food is important too – If you made a new year’s resolution to eat healthily there are delicious options like spiced cauliflower bites, a range of salads (including vegan friendly) as well as pulled beef croquettes or grilled tiger prawns to match the delicious pizzas and burgers.
According to Brazilian-born head chef Arthur, the coconut raw fish with lime and chilli has been a hit with locals, along with the crispy jam-filled donuts on the dessert menu.
Mr Illingsworth also offers a custom kids menu, with options to swap the chips out for coleslaw, potatoes, vegetables or salads.
The name Mr Illingsworth comes from the first shop established in Te Atatu Peninsula which was run by Mr Illingsworth. It became a general store, post office and petrol station and was the hub of community life, just as we want this Mr Illingsworth to become.
Open 7 days from 11am until late, Mr Illingsworth is located at new development The Point, 571 Te Atatu Road (next to Countdown). Check out the menu here.
