The community food and winter clothing donation drive that Western Knights ran at HubWest on 27 June was a huge success. Food items and warm winter clothing were collected and shared with local families and individuals across The West who were doing it tough, right at the point in the year when heating bills climb and budgets get tight.
Western Knights is a local club with deep roots in The West, and this drive was about using those connections for something practical. Rising living costs have hit a lot of households hard over the past couple of years. A box of pantry staples or a warm jacket for a tamaiti heading to school does not fix that, but it does take the edge off a hard week.
In their own words, Western Knights said the funding “has helped us provide essential food items to local families and individuals in need across West Auckland. This contribution has made a meaningful difference by helping ease the pressure of rising living costs and supporting the wellbeing of our community.”
They also made a point that we think matters a lot. The drive “enabled our community to come together, share what we can, and support families with dignity and care”
The Trusts was able to contribute a small amount of funding towards the drive.
Ngā mihi nui to Western Knights and everyone who dropped something off at HubWest.
