The Trusts are thrilled to back one of Auckland’s great summer sporting traditions, the Portage Cup 2026, hosted by Blockhouse Bay Bowls and primarily sponsored by the Portage Licensing Trust.
The Portage Cup has long been a highlight of the bowls calendar, bringing clubs and players together at the very start of the year for a fast, friendly, and fiercely competitive day on the greens.
Event date: Saturday, 3 January 2026
Format: 2 Bowls Triples, one‑day tournament – four games of 12 ends Scale: 3 greens, 52 teams, 156 players representing clubs across Auckland
“The Portage Cup is the perfect way to kick off our bowls year—fast triples, great kai, proper prize money, and a brilliant community vibe. With 52 teams across three greens, Blockhouse Bay will be humming on 3 January.” says Stephen Clifton from the Blockhouse Bay Bowling Club. This year’s refreshed format puts the focus on great food, strong prize money, and fun, competitive play, all in a single day.
The Portage Cup is a celebration of community spirit showcasing how the Portage Licensing Trust and Blockhouse Bay Bowls unite to create an event owned by the community, run by the community, for the community. A partnership about giving back and keeping local traditions alive.
