Two playgroups supporting refugee and migrant whānau in West Auckland received funds this month to purchase new car seats for their van transport service, thanks to the support of The Trusts Supporters Club.

Safari Avondale and Safari West Multicultural Playgroups, operated by Belong Aotearoa, run a van transport service to allow isolated women and children to attend playgroups.

Many migrant and refugee women do not drive or have access to a vehicle, and navigating public transport can be a daunting task when settling into a new place with limited English.

This van service is a lifeline for many children and mothers in West Auckland who would otherwise experience high levels of isolation and loneliness.

The playgroups also offer services for mothers, such as free English classes, presentations, and workshops that assist them in making Aotearoa their home.

This grant from the Supporters Club will allow them to purchase two car seats to replace their tired, older models. This ensures that children and mothers can travel safely and comfortably to enjoy all that Safari West and Safari Avondale Playgroups have to offer!
