Summer has officially kicked off at Zeal West, and the vibes are strong! Zeal is a youth organisation dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people can explore their creativity, build confidence, and connect with their community.
From music and art to leadership programmes and street youth work, Zeal is all about empowering rangatahi to thrive. Through support via The Trusts Supporters Club from Greenfields (Westgate), Zeal West has introduced a brand-new pop-up volleyball net, and it’s already making a huge impact.
What might look like a simple game has quickly become one of the most powerful ways to bring young people together, build teamwork, and create a fun, positive space for rangatahi to belong.
Since receiving the new net, volleyball games have been drawing large crowds almost every day at Zeal’s Henderson youth centre. The energy doesn’t stop there; the team is now taking the action out into local parks as part of their street youth work activations, using volleyball to connect with even more young people across West Auckland.
On average, over 100 young people each week are now getting involved in volleyball activities at Zeal West. Through something as simple as a shared game, these sessions are helping to grow confidence, friendship, and a real sense of community.
