The simple act of sharing a cup of tea can bridge cultures and build connections. Recently, English Language Partners Auckland Central & West (ELP) reached out to let us know how the Supporters Club fund made a difference to their organisation and the community they support.

ELP plays a vital role in helping new Kiwis integrate into New Zealand society by providing essential English language skills for both work and daily life. Their programs empower learners to participate fully and live independently. For many, the daily morning or afternoon tea break is more than just a pause; it’s a crucial opportunity to socialise, practice their English, and build a sense of community.

Before the festive season, ELP received a boost of $500 from our Supporters Club. This contribution has been put to excellent use, ensuring a steady supply of tea, coffee, sugar, and milk for their learners. This gesture highlights the power of community support in fostering integration and belonging. It demonstrates how a small act of kindness can create a ripple effect, strengthening the bonds within a diverse community.

ELP extends an open invitation to anyone interested in experiencing the supportive learning environment firsthand. Anyone who wants to pop in for a cup of tea or coffee and find out what learning at ELP is like, or if you would like to become a volunteer home tutor, please reach out to English Language Partners.

The organisation welcomes those eager to contribute to the success of new Kiwis in their journey to building a life in New Zealand. By sharing a cup of tea and a moment of connection, everyone can play a part in creating a welcoming and inclusive community.

This was made possible by The Taphouse in Avondale, via our Supporters Club.
