Over the past decade the Portage and Waitākere Trusts (The Trusts) have made a meaningful impact on the West Auckland community by supporting local schools with annual donations towards their end-of-year prize-giving ceremonies. These contributions, which total over $80,000 each year, reflect The Trusts’ commitment to celebrating and empowering rangatahi (youth) across the region.
Unlike many funding opportunities, schools do not need to apply for this support. The donations are given as a gesture of goodwill to honour the hard work and achievements of both students and schools. This initiative not only alleviates financial pressure on schools but also ensures that every year, the efforts of West Auckland’s young people are recognised and celebrated in a meaningful way.
Through this initiative, the Trusts have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering a sense of pride and achievement within the community. Over the last ten years, the contributions have totalled more than $800,000, benefiting countless students and schools across the region.
The Portage and Waitākere Trusts’ are dedicated to ongoing support of our schools and community-driven efforts to uplift and inspire future generations. We believe that our collective efforts can make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and the wider community.
