Anzac Day 2021

Anzac Day is always a special day in our national calendar. However, this year’s commemorations are more anticipated than ever.

Find your nearest West Auckland Anzac Day Service here.

This time last year, the entire country was in Alert Level 4 lockdown. For the first time in over 104 years, Kiwis were unable to gather and remember in traditional Anzac services. Instead, New Zealanders up and down the country marked the day in their bubbles through the #StandAtDawn campaign.

First celebrated in 1916, April 25 marks the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli. Traditionally, RSAs are the primary focus of Anzac Day commemorations. And The Trusts is a proud supporter of RSAs throughout the year.

‘The Trusts is committed to supporting West Auckland’s RSAs on what is a significant day,’ explains The Trusts Marc Oliver. ‘We offer special promotions and provide donations to help with Anzac Day gatherings.’

Gus Rieper of Henderson RSA confirms the special connection between The Trusts and local RSAs. ‘We have a great relationship with The Trusts,’ he says. ‘Anzac Day is very important to us, and for many years now, The Trusts has sponsored the day or has contributed with donations.’

According to Gus, The Trusts’ support continues all year round with sponsorship of other important events, including Armistice commemorations.

West Aucklanders wanting to remember and honour the sacrifices of our service personnel can choose from several local events. See below for a list of these events.
